33, And No Career

So I told myself, that the next time I create a blog, I will keep it real to anyone who takes time to read it. So here we go...

I just turned 33 and I have no career. There it is...I said it...I'm sort of ashame to admit it. I envy people that have this career path thing down pact. I mean, I been to like 5 different colleges, you would think that I would have already answered the question of "What I Want To Do/Be In Life?" I'm currently one year away from getting my degree in Business Administration and maybe pursue my masters, but isn't sure where these degrees will lead me. I think it has a lot to do with feeling like the job/or career that I would love to have dosen't exist. I even wrote down a description of my dream career. The only thing that I am sure of is that my career will have something to do with new/upstart businesses (whether it is one that I create or not). I guess I just feel kinda bad that I'm at this age, (married with a child), and don't have a clear picture of who I want to be. And my future will not be with my current employer. Don't get me wrong, I have a decent job and for the most part, treated my family and I good. I been there 7+ years, and I work from home-who wouldn't love that? BUT it is customer service, and it is dead end. I wasn't put here (on earth) to be on the phones, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week...I feel like the reason for my life is much more than that. But you know what, I'd rather take this time to follow my heart and figure out what I'm passionate about than just go from job to job "pretending" that it is a career. People get hired at a job and then stay there for so long that they have no choice but to retire there. ITS LIKE THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BE WHAT THEY ARE DOING, INSTEAD OF BEING WHO THEY ARE. I see it everyday. I don't want to become that person. Even if the money is right, I don't want to become a slave to complacency.

So if you are reading this and you are not sure if you should pursue a certain career... Take your time. Figure out what you feel comfortable doing for the rest of your life before bringing money into the picture... That's what I am doing and will make life a lot less stressful in the long run.
